Gratitude – 36x36 – Oil on Linen
Created during the same period as Moon Song, Gratitude continues my exploration of atmosphere, light, and the emotional connection between wildlife and the natural world.
A solitary grizzly moves quietly through a luminous landscape, illuminated by a glowing sphere of light that transforms the scene from a simple wildlife portrait into something more contemplative and symbolic. The painting is less about a specific place and more about a state of mind—a moment of stillness, awareness, and appreciation for the wild.
Having spent much of my life living and working in wilderness areas, I have always been inspired by the presence of animals. They exist fully in the moment, connected to the rhythms of the natural world. That sense of presence inspired the title Gratitude.
